    Technologist I (Entry Level)
    Bachelors degree or 2-3 year diploma in analytical chemistry or any discipline of life sciences with a major in microbiology, toxicology, genetics or biotechnology from a recognized university, college or a technical institution. Some laboratory work experience in a relevant field would be an asset.

    Technologist II (Intermediate Level)
    The same basic qualifications as above and at least two-three years experience working in a laboratory engaged in the areas of microbiology, toxicology, genetics, biotechnology or analytical chemistry. Relevant experience in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and international quality standard (e.g. ISO/IEC 17025) would be an asset.

    Technologist III (Advanced Level)
    The same basic qualifications as above and four or more years experience working in a laboratory engaged in any area of life sciences (preferably in microbiology, toxicology, genetics or cell biology) or analytical chemistry and operating in compliance with GLP and international quality standard (e.g. ISO/IEC 17025).

    Research Scientist
    Masters or a Ph.D. degree in chemistry or biological sciences with specialization in microbiology, toxicology, genetics or any related field in biotechnology or analytical chemistry from a recognized university with 1-2 years research and method development/validation experience.

  • Co-op Students

    At PBR the Co-op Students and other trainees receive their initial training in basic laboratory techniques required in transitioning them in our on-going research projects in the areas of life sciences and analytical chemistry. Our research program primarily utilizes biological systems such as, bacteria, fungi, and mammalian cell cultures. Our focus of research is on the development of analytical tools and products and validation of assays useful in the evaluation of safety of foods, pharmaceuticals, agricultural and industrial chemicals as well as in specific areas that augment human and the environmental health.
