An elevated result should be investigated against the correct specification, sample and lot information before deciding on follow-up testing.

Review the Result

Confirm:

  • metal tested;
  • concentration;
  • units;
  • reporting limit;
  • specification;
  • sample identity.

Investigate Ingredients

Consider:

  • botanical ingredients;
  • mineral ingredients;
  • supplier source;
  • individual raw-material lots.

Review Sampling

If the material is heterogeneous, one small sample may not adequately represent the entire lot.

Should You Retest?

Additional testing may be appropriate, but it should answer a specific question.

Examples:

  • Is the result associated with one ingredient?
  • Is contamination localized?
  • Do retained samples show the same pattern?

Speak with PBR about the result and investigation objective before selecting additional testing.
